Hambleton & Richmond Pupil Referral Service are committed to the mental well being of all involved within the school community. As such we have a horticulture programme with a therapeutic and pastoral emphasis to assist our students in dealing with their individual lives.
Our school team are members of the Royal Horticulture Society and are going to be working towards gaining all five school gardening awards. This will ultimately entail our school forging links with the local community in our area.
In addition to this our KS3 pupils and intervention groups will have the opportunity in obtaining AQA Awards in Horticulture.
Our PIXL Edge programme also allows KS4 to complete accredited activity programmes related to the key attributes of Leadership, Organisation, Resilience, Initiative and Communication and enjoy the opportunity to qualify at progressive levels. It is our aim that the Horticulture programme will become one of the accredited activities.
At present you can see the garden is in need of some tender loving care and revamping. Within the pictures is year 11 pupil, Connor, who is assisting in the initial planning stages of the project with Mr Ornsby.
Watch this space for future updates and hopefully the addition of some school RHS awards.
