At KS4 we offer GCSE Mathematics at higher and foundation tiers following the AQA examination board specification, also students have the opportunity to gain the Mathematics functional skills qualification.
Through the delivery of functional skills students can get an insight into the uses of Mathematics in everyday life. In addition to the Mathematics teaching in the centre we also offer outreach support to students from our collaborative schools where required.
At KS4 students can gain GCSE Mathematics and Functional Skills (from entry level 1 to level 2) qualifications. We ensure that students again have the opportunity to work on open ended investigations to develop their functional Maths skills.
We study AQA GCSE linear 8300, the specification for which can be found at This specification is for first ecxaminations in 2017 and has a much larger and more challlenging content that GCSEs in previous years. Students will be graded from 9 to 1 instead of A* to G. If you require further information on this or any areas of the mathematics curriculum please contact Mrs Victoria Milne (Head of Mathematics) at the centre.
We use Pearsons for the functional skills qualifications, which after careful consideration we feel is the most accessible assessment route for our students.
