The Sunbeck Centre is an alternative provision in North Yorkshire. We are funded by the Local Authority for a set number of statutory places. These could be used by pupils who:

  • have been Permanently Excluded from their current school

  • have had a place commissioned by their current school as a measure to prevent Permanent Exclusion

Referrals for placements at The Sunbeck Centre are made by schools and other agencies.

Statutory pupils will usually attend full time until they are ready to move back into mainstream education or to specialist education. A statutory pupil in Year 11 is likely to complete the full academic year with us and take external, national examinations at our centre. We offer a very broad range of qualifications in our curriculum.

Discretionary pupils can be supported by us in our existing teaching groups or as part of a bespoke package where it is practical to do so. Discretionary packages might be full or part time and are often short term.

Please see our Interventions for Schools page for more information on this offer.
