Technology is everywhere and plays an important part of students' lives. We want to model and educate our students to use technology positively and responsibly. We cover a whole range of topics in addition to safe internet use; information technology and digital literacy giving our students the skills they need for life. We give students the ability to choose appropriate software for a particular use. We develop students’ use of common software and show how those skills can be used in a real world environment. IT is used to practise used to practise literacy skills learnt throughout the centre. Some students with special needs can have very positive experience with technology, whereas other can struggle to cope with the frustrations of using a computer – we work with all young people however they feel about IT
